FAITH BIBLE COLLEGE, INC.

Equipping Servant Leaders

About Faith Bible College

Message from the President

Thank you for your interest in Faith Bible College, the training school for church workers of Faith Evangelical Church of the Philippines. It may be small, but I am proud of this school.

Through the years, we tried to be at the cutting edge of training church workers. There is the need to be balanced in our content. There is the tendency to go the tried and tested curriculum that the west brought to the Philippines. Yet, we realized that to be relevant to the times, we must be flexible enough to include courses that will meet the challenges and trends of this age. There is also the pull between training of the mind and training of the heart. This calls for balancing too.

Through the many years that I’ve been with FBC we checked and compared with what other seminaries were offering. We can say that we are not far behind. Our track record shows that whenever our graduates attend seminaries in Metro Manila, they are always at the top of their classes.

I am so thankful too, that the members of the faculty are world class. All of them are graduates of the best Bible schools/ seminaries in the Philippines. What a challenge to be a part of training men and women who will be leaders in our churches.

I would say, where the Church goes, FBC will follow. We are here to serve.

Rev. Ermalee R. Hidalgo
President
(2008-Present)

History

One Mission Society (formerly the Oriental Missionary Society) missionaries first came to the Philippines in 1983 with the goal of spreading the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to Filipinos through church planting, evangelism and theological education. A few months later several Bible studies were begun and these same groups then gathered for Sunday worship. Since 1984 Faith Fellowship has served as one of God’s vessels to bless hundreds of needy people.

In time additional churches were also planted and thus Faith Evangelical Church of the Philippines Inc. (FECPI) was formed. In 1989 OMS in partnership with FECPI founded Faith Bible College to train additional workers for new churches. It opened with an initial class of 12 students. Faith Bible College is an associate member of the Philippine Association of Bible and Theological Schools (PABATS).

Objectives and Distinctives of Faith Bible College

FBC is an under-graduate-level educational institution whose primary purpose is “to prepare God’s people . . . to serve and build up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12).

FBC is Biblically oriented, contemporary in application, evangelistic in emphasis and Wesleyan-Arminian in its theological persuasion.

The school seeks to develop students spiritually, mentally and morally and to equip them with the information and skills for the expansion and development of the body of Christ in the Philippines and more specifically for the FECPI churches.

The FBC curriculum is based on the standards set by the Philippine Association of Bible and Theological Schools (PABATS) for the Bachelor of Theology degree. Courses include Bible, theology, church history, pastoral and practical theology, cell church training, humanities, culture and language.

Doctrinal Statement

Biblical doctrines emphasized by FBC are:

  1. The full and unique inspiration of the Holy Bible and divine Word of God, the only infallible, sufficient and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
  2. One God, eternally existent in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial intercession, and His personal second coming in power and glory.
  4. The fall of man, his moral depravity and the necessity of the new birth.
  5. The substitutionary atonement through the shed blood of Christ.
  6. Justification by faith through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
  7. Sanctification by faith (the infilling of the Holy Spirit), subsequent to regeneration, brought by the Holy Spirit in response to an act of total commitment, resulting in purity of heart and enduement of power for holy living and sacrifice.
  8. The security of the believer as he abides in fellowship with Christ.
  9. The resurrection of the body unto eternal life for the saved and eternal punishment for the lost.
  10. The spiritual unity of all believers who comprise the church, the body of Christ.
